About Lauren

I believe that in our healing journey, we need to make space for the brain to “cobweb”. I want to support whatever unravels when it comes out, without judgment, and help you explore how thoughts, feelings, experiences, and values interact to create their map of connections. If you are standing too close on a cobweb, you can’t often see what paths give it strength and structure, but if you take a step back, you can see the patterns, reflect on them, and decide what shifts you value. I have spent much of my life working on crisis lines/centres and supporting those experiencing doubt or a lack of safety as they move toward a life where they choose their own meaning.

Trauma work has taught me that trauma may be easily named, or it can be a series of events that we are told "everyone goes through," so we hesitate to ask for help until it's at the forefront of our minds every day. Having experienced being different from a very young age, I connect with the idea that there is no one way to happiness, connection, or fulfillment. I want to work collaboratively, where there’s nothing that can’t be said, even if it comes out feeling strange or with a dark sense of humour.

I practice from an emotion-focused, values-focused perspective, which can include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), with additional training in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR). I strongly advocate for tuning in to your body, heart, and mind so they can all work together instead of feeling disconnected or becoming overwhelmingly loud.

As a practitioner with a visible disability, I value supporting those with diverse backgrounds, including chronic pain/illness, LGBTQ+, and Poly folks.
