About Dorothea

Dorothea is a Provisional Psychologist with over 8 years of experience working with children and their families in a variety of settings including home, school, and early education programs. She has a Master’s in Developmental Psychology and Post-Master’s Certificate in Counselling, specializing in collaboratively supporting neurodivergent children and their families in areas such as emotional and sensory regulation, anxiety, and social-emotional skills.

Using a client-centred, strengths-based, and trauma-informed lens in her work, Dorothea strives to provide neurodiversity-affirming therapy tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. Drawing from her training in play therapy, Dorothea incorporates various evidence-based therapeutic approaches and creative methods (e.g., sandtray therapy, Theraplay, CBT, art) to help children express themselves, process their emotions and experiences, and learn skills for managing difficult situations, stressors, and emotions. She believes in meeting children and families where they are at and creating a safe (and fun!) space where they feel seen, heard, and understood. Dorothea is passionate about empowering clients and families to collaboratively problem solve challenges, tap into their strengths, and gain the tools and support to thrive. With warmth, humour, and playfulness, Dorothea looks forward to helping your child learn valuable coping skills and therapeutic tools to navigate challenges and enhance their journey towards growth and healing!
