About Katie

Hi there! I am Katie, and I am a Behaviour Specialist. I’ve had the privilege of working with children and families both locally and overseas for the past 15 years, and each experience has reinforced how vital it is to honour every child’s individuality and every family’s story.

I am deeply committed to a practice that is neuroaffirming, trauma-informed, and connection-driven. My hope is that every child and family member that I support leaves each interaction with me feeling truly seen, heard, and respected.

I have been fortunate enough to have supported families in their schools, their homes, hospitals, and community organizations. I have worked with children who have received a variety of diagnoses - ADHD, ASD, PDA, ODD, OCD, anxiety, depression, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and C-PTSD. I have approached each child with the understanding that their experiences will differ from every other child and that building connection and trust is something I must earn. Like Rita Pierson says, “Kids don’t learn from people they don’t like!”

I whole-heartedly believe that behaviour is communication, every emotion has value, we should strive for connection, not compliance, and that behaviour therapy can be fun!

When I am not working, my husband and I are kept busy with our 3 daughters and our VERY droopy Basset Hound named Nelson.
